PlayBuilders Receives Major Funding

Mahalo, Mayor Kirk Caldwell and the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts!

Mahalo, Hawai’i Peoples Fund!

PlayBuilders was notified last week that we received the Mayor’s Production Grant from the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts. If that wasn’t good news enough, we also learned that we received a generous grant from the Hawai’i Peoples Fund.

Both of these awards are for “On The Streets of Honolulu” written by Mark Tjarks after interviewing 60+ members of Honolulu’s homeless community and directed by Troy Apostol. This production promises to be our most ambitious project to date. We appreciate MOCA and HPF’s support more than we can say and will do everything we can to insure that “On the Streets of Honolulu” fulfills our mission, which is to build bridges of understanding between the many diverse peoples of Hawai’i through excellent community based theater.
