“Fostering Ohana” to Participate in The Second Annual Hawaiʻi One-Minute PlayFestival

The “Fostering Ohana” cast will participate in the 2nd annual Hawai'i One-Minute PlayFestival which will be presented on Saturday, May 21st and Sunday, May 22nd at Honolulu Theatre for Youth's Tenney Theatre (229 Queen Emma Square). The event is produced by the One-Minute PlayFestival, Kumu Kahua Theatre and the Honolulu Theatre for Youth. Both performances are at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $20 and available for purchased at KumuKahua.org.

One-minute plays by established and emerging Hawai'i resident playwrights were commissioned for this special event. Two plays by PlayBuilders director Terri Madden were selected and she was also asked to direct 7 one-minute plays by writers Kiana Rivera, Sean OʻMalley, Eleanor Svaton, Mark Tjarks, Tyler Tanabe, and John Wythe White.

For casting purposes, Terri turned to those participating in “Fostering Ohana.” This will be the first time several members of our “Fostering Ohana” cast will be on stage in front of an audience and it will serve as a final examination for all the hard work we have been doing for the last 4 months of once-a-week acting and dance lessons. Kathy Bowers, Malia Baloyot, and Michell Martin will assist Terri, and each have been assigned two plays to direct. Terri is directing the 7th and will place the 7 plays in order.
