The PlayWrights Circle is a fellowship of playwrights who support each other’s efforts in writing community based plays. Members of the Circle help set up and facilitate story circles, contribute knowledge and provide critique of one another’s work. We want the best for each other and for the communities we work with.
PlayBuilders PlayWrights Circle is the creative heart of PlayBuilders. PlayBuilders does not simply ask writers to turn in plays that they have written on their own and then decide which of those sent in will be produced. Rather we commit ourselves to these talented playwrights from the very beginning and strive to raise sufficient funds in order to pay them for the work they do once we produce the plays.
The playwrights we have invited into the circle are experienced, have had plays produced in the past here in Hawaii and they also have a body of work we have either read or seen performed. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the ARTS at Marks Garage.
Members of the 2012 Playwrights Circle are as Follows:
Alvin Chan – Chinatown
Neal Milner – Kapolei
John Meyers – North Shore/ Later Day Saints
Terri Madden – Schofield/Wahiawa
Troy Apostol – Waipahu
Ronald Gilliam – LGBT Community
