Ronald Gilliam
Interim Artistic Director, 2013- 2015 Director, Yes I Am: Stories from Honolulu's LGBT Community Co-Director, Yes I am: Leeward Edition Ronald Gilliam was the Interim Artistic Director and ensemble member of PlayBuilders between 2013-2015. During his tenure, he directed "Yes I Am, Stories from Honolulu's LGBT Community" and co-directed "Yes I Am: Leeward Edition" with Terri Madden. He was instrumental in developing our 5 year plan and the PlayBuilders overall marketing image. He holds an MA in Performance Studies from New York University and is currently working on his Ph.D. at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. Prior to joining PlayBuilders, Ronald was an active stage director and arts administrator in Indianapolis and New York City. He has directed over 10 full-length productions and numerous devised original works based on ensemble/applied theatre methodologies. His most recent Honolulu work prior to his tenure at PlayBuilders was Borderline, an original production originally conceived and developed by NoExit Performance (Indianapolis), a theatre company Ronald co-founded in 2004. He also directed the Hawai‘i premiere of Gao Xinjiang’s Nocturnal Wanderer to sold-out houses at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa’s Earl Ernst Lab Theatre. Lisa Barnes
Director, Someone Elseʻs Slippahs: Chinatown Lisa Barnes has written and performed solo shows based on interviews with strangers for Alphabet City III, V, and VI with the Metropolitan Playhouse in Manhattan. Her experience informed PlayBuilders' very first effort in community collaborative playmaking with the creation of “Someone Else’s Slippahs: Chinatown.” Other NY credits: SPAIN (SPF-Kirk Theatre); TheAtrainplays (New World Stages); NO EXIT STRATEGY (w/Primary Stages); ITALIAN AMERICAN CANTOS (Abingdon Theatre); NEW BOY (Beckett Theatre); GIANTS (Here Theatre) RAPT (Culture Project). Regional and LA credits: WELL (Vermont Stage), DINNER WITH FRIENDS (Portland Stage). THE QUICK-CHANGE ROOM (LA Drama Critics’ Circle Award, Dramalogue Award); AWAKE & SING (Dramalogue Award). Most recent celluloid co-starring/recurring roles in “Under The Hula,” by Keo Woolford, “Birth,” “Cayman Went,” “Law & Order,” “Law & Order SVU,” “Law & Order Trial By Jury” and “Rescue Me.” She was Co-President of Women in the Arts & Media Coalition for five years and is a founding member of acclaimed Off-Broadway theatre, Primary Stages. |

Ashley DeMoville
Director, The Waipahu Project Ashley DeMoville holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Master of Theatre Arts in Directing from Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School and Victoria University of Wellington. She has worked professionally as a director and actor in Hawaii, New Zealand and California. As a director, she has worked on everything from children’s theatre to classical theatre, from film direction to premiering original work. Ashley teaches theatre at Leeward Community College and Chaminade University and is an active supporter of the arts in underrepresented communities. She is the first to offer theatre classes at the Leeward Community College Waianae campus in an effort to make the arts more accessible to students in Waianae, Makaha, and Nanakuli. Ashley, her husband, and their two young sons recently moved to the Leeward Coast from Waipahu and they maintain ties to the Waipahu community. |

November Morris
Director, Xenophobia: Face Your Fears November Morris has an extensive background in community-based work. He studied acting at East Los Angeles College and while touring with the cast of hereandnow Theatre Company. He participated in PlayBuilders’ “Houseless in Paradise” via his connection as a service provider at IHS, Institute for Human Services where he serves as the Employment Program Manager. In addition to directing "Xenophobia, Face Your Fears,” November taught once a week workshops for the first graduating class of the PlayBuilders Ensemble. |

Krystyn Trombetta
2015 Playwright-in-Residence The Waipahu Project Kirstyn Trombetta is a current student at Leeward Community College and a rising playwright. She recently received much reception when her one-act play, Treacherous Beloved, was selected to be a part of PlayBuilder’s 3rd Annual Festival of Original Plays. Her passion for Theatre shines through not only her writing, but also through her acting. She has been in multiple productions including The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Jekyll and Hyde: A Gothic Musical, Once Upon One Kapakahi Time, Scandollesque, The School For Scandal, and The Clockwork Cutie Revue. Kirstyn works for the Leeward Theatre as Theatre Management Assistant when she isn’t at her second job at Kama’aina Kids. PlayBuilders commissioned her to write The Waipahu Project, which will be produced on the main stage at Leeward Community College in April 2015. |

SheenRu Young
2015 Artist-in-Residence, Choreographer re ad dress ing Fairytale Honolulu SheenRu Yong is an artist-in-residence at PlayBuilders and at Leeward Community College from January to April, 2015. After receiving her BA at Wesleyan University, SheenRu danced and choreographed in New York City and Taipei, where she also received full scholarship for her MFA in Choreography at Taipei National University of the Arts. While dancing and touring internationally with world renowned Legend Lin Dance Theatre, she choreographed and headed several community collaborative projects in Taipei, most notably The Re-source Project. In 2009, SheenRu founded body portal theatre, a platform which seeks to honor and develop the creative potentials of the individual, collective, and environmental bodies we inhabit. A fellowship recipient of the Asia Pacific Leadership Program at the East West Center in 2013-2014, she was moved by the many stories and issues about Water she heard while in Hawai’i. Under the auspices of Taiwan’s LuoManFei Dance Fund and the Taiwan Ministry of Culture, SheenRu is now spearheading FLOOD / turn the tide, a cross-cultural collaboration and exchange to create an original work in Hawai’i and then to bring the same process to foster similar resonance and creative action in Taiwan. |
