A relative new comer to Hawaii, Lisa Barnes brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with PlayBuilders. Lisa’s New York credits includes performing in works at the Summer Play Festival, Playwrights Horizons, New World States, Abingdon Theatre, Beckeet Theatre, Culture Project, Neighborhood Playhouse, and The Metropolitan Playhouse. It was at the Metropolitan Playhouse that Lisa wrote and performed Un Pajaro En Una Jaula, the story of a young woman of Dominican Republic heritage, who breaks out of the shelter system and East Village to East Village, about a young man from Bangladesh who immigrates to New York in Alphabet City. It is from lessons learned from Alphabet City, that Lisa brings us “Someone Else’s Slippah’s.”
“Someone Else’s Slippahs” will be presented at The ARTS of Marks Garage starting at 7:00 PM, Wednesday Nights; May 2, 9, 16, 23. The event is a presentation of new, original solo works based on interviews with our neighbors in Chinatown. Don’t miss this very special event.
