Next stop: Wahiawa! PlayBuilders of Hawai’i Theatre Company, fresh off the successful run of Chinatown-based Someone Else’s Slippahs, is full steam ahead in Wahiawa, creating a theatrical experience especially by, for, and about this diverse place in the heart of O‘ahu. Wahiawa: Remembah Wen… will feature community-based actors portraying patrons of a local restaurant telling stories they’ve personally collected from friends, neighbors, and relatives about life in Wahiawa from early plantation days up to now. This play features a rich representation of people and culture a chance for the community to remember, discover, and share the stories that will have everyone saying, Wahiawa n? ka ‘oi! After each performance, inspired audience members will be encouraged to share their own stories during a post-show open mike session.
